Approaching the Topic of Spirituality with Someone
If you want to approach someone about spirituality, it is good to keep in mind why they started learning.
Introduction
We will explore some of the reasons why people are introduced to spirituality. If you are unsure if you should approach spirituality with someone, I’ll give you a tip on what you can do beforehand that can help.
Curiosity Motivates Learning
In most cases people learn spirituality gradually where some topics cross their path and will spike their curiosity. Sometimes a parent will be into spirituality or maybe a friend. Maybe they have a realistic dream that all of a sudden comes true. They could see a TV show about a child who can talk about their previous life with such detail to make them wonder about reincarnation.
They could meet someone and after a very quick conversation, they realize that for whatever reason they know this person super well. It is like they have known them for 40 years and not just for 5 minutes. That does make people wonder if they have met them before in a past life or who this person really is to them. There is a chance that this person is part of their soul family (also known as soul group or soul tribe), who will agree to come into this life to assist in some way.
If someone is religious, they may want to ask about spirituality as there can be some overlap with their religion. I have found that some religious people feel like they are cheating on their faith by learning spirituality. This is certainly not true. I feel for them and allow them to ask whatever questions they feel comfortable asking. If they are religious, it is good to understand what their faith is to know where they are coming from.
Events that Trigger an Investigation
In some cases, there is some specific event that causes someone to gather knowledge and it is a much more focused effort.
Someone could experience a near death experience (NDE), which changes their whole outlook on life. This will most definitely kick off a spiritual exploration.
Sometimes people are just minding their own business, then BAM! There are signs given to them from the spiritual side that makes it impossible to ignore. It is like guides and angels snapping their fingers saying, "We are here! Listen!". When this happens and the angel numbers appear literally everywhere (1111, 333, 444, 555, etc,), sometimes people question their sanity. I did for a time and it is completely natural to feel this way.
If someone has psychic abilities, their abilities can all of a sudden get activated once their vibration is raised high enough. When this happens, some will literally see a spirit or auras around people with their physical eyes. They could start experiencing spiritual telepathy or have a psychic vision.
I’m giving you these examples, because it is important to keep this in mind when approaching someone about spirituality. It is always good to know what triggered the learning as you can better relate to them and their experiences.
My Story
For me, I knew I was different as a little girl and I could sense spirits and feel the emotions of others, which is an empath trait. My parents never wanted to go to any church or associate with a religion, so I had no influence of a religion growing up. My mother believed in reincarnation, spirits, and angels, but we rarely talked about it. When I heard, “God bless everyone” and “I want to thank God for everything I have in my life”, I wondered what that meant and why did they say it. What does God have to do with your success? I understand the relationship now, but did not as a child. I also wasn’t sure how I felt about religions because it seemed like they put people in a box. It was like their religion forced them to believe from a specific book or a certain set of rules that they put in front of them. I just steered clear. However at the end of the day, deep down I did believe in God or some higher power. I also believed in reincarnation, spirits, and angels as my mother did. As I grew up, I realized that I am a very scientific and logical person at heart. So, you may wonder why I believed in those things without being a part of a religion. It is because at a very young age, I had experiences that proved to me that these things were real. I just clocked the information, lived my life, jumped into a career and had a family. Life happened. I didn’t research any of this until much later in life.
At first, it was a gradual process for me. I had some experiences when I was young, but that was it. I didn’t think much of it. Then at a specific point in time, my psychic abilities turned “on” overnight. Then it was like a snowball effect and my spiritual journey officially started. My guides said that my psychic abilities were always there, but they were just inactive because my vibration was low. When that happened, everything changed for me.
Speaking with Others About Spirituality
It is a wonderful thing to find people to talk about spirituality with. When I finded peole I could talk to, I learned so much more than when I investigated on my own. When you want to talk to existing friends about spirituality, it can be a daunting thing. Some may think you are crazy and look at you in a whole new light. Some are so rooted in one religion and those beliefs that they are not open to it unless it is coming directly from their religion and no where else. Their perception of you can change. There is a chance that your friend may have a bad reaction to the topic and never speak to you again. Yes, this is a risk for sure. This has happened to me and it does hurt. For the most part though, I think most people are ok touch on the topic, which was very different 30 years ago. For me, I have gotten to a point where if someone walks out of my life, then so be it. Spirituality is such a part of who I am now that I don't want to hide it behind closed doors. If I am concerned about how they will take it, then I won't talk about my psychic abilities or real heavy spiritual concepts. I will test the waters with more accepted topics such as energy, reincarnation, or Reiki. These topics are usually pretty safe for most people. Then see how they accept it. If they are receptive, I go deeper. I usually don’t start my first sentence by telling people I hear voices in my head (spiritual telepathy) as I don’t expect that to every go over well. Even if my guides tell me it is ok, I am still cautious. In most cases, I find that people have had experiences that show them that spirituality is a good thing and that it’s safe to explore.
Before I talk to someone about spirituality, there is one thing I always do first. I ask my guides if it is a good idea. If you are not able to communicate with your guides or don’t know how, then listen to your intuition. Sit with yourself in silence, close your eyes and ask yourself silently if you feel it would be a good thing to talk about spirituality with a certain person. You will most likely get an urge one way or another. Yes or no. The first answer is right. Don’t think too much into it and accept the instant answer you get.
Most times I get a good reaction from the person and it goes very well. I really had nothing to worry about. However, in rare cases, this is not the case. If someone has a visceral reaction, then you will know right away. If that happens, then change the subject and move on. Every spiritual person who I have met is very relaxed and understands that not everyone is going to be accepting of some of the concepts. They all know this. With spirituality, you take what resonates and leave the rest. If the person you are talking to is open and accepting, then they will ask you questions and be intrigued.
Conclusion
Whenever I meet a new person at a spiritual event or want to talk to an existing friend about spirituality, I do pause and ask myself how to approach it. It is good to remember that everyone starts learning spirituality due to a variety of reasons and not everyone is ready or even open to talk about spirituality. They may agree with some of the concepts, but don’t want to have a conversation and that is ok too. Usually if someone says a word related to spirituality (like energy, astrology, moon phases or 5D) or gives you any other clue, then it is probably going to be a topic that is well received. I trust my guides and intuition to give me the green light and it never fails.
